How a multi-zone system goes together
One outdoor unit runs two or more indoor heads (each unit's page says how many), so a whole floor or a small house gets room-by-room control without ducts. The outdoor units here run from 18,000 to 60,000 BTU at SEER2 ratings of 22 to 25, including Hyper Heat models built for cold climates.
Two rules decide what fits: the outdoor unit has a fixed number of ports, and the manufacturer publishes which heads are approved on it and what the heads may add up to. The system builder only shows combinations that pass both and sizes each head to its room.
Heads can be mixed on one condenser: wall mounts in bedrooms, a ceiling cassette in the living room, a floor console under a window. Each head is controlled on its own.
Common questions
Can I install a mini split myself?
Mounting, wiring and running the line set are within reach of a capable DIYer. The refrigerant connection, vacuum and charge should be done by a licensed HVAC technician in most states, and most warranties require it. We can point you to an installer in your area.
How do I know what size I need?
Use the system builder: enter the rooms and it sizes each one and shows only manufacturer-approved combinations. For vaulted ceilings, sunrooms or very old houses, call and we will size it by hand.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes. Every system ships to all 50 states.
Can I return a unit?
No. All sales are final, so size it right first: the builder and the sizing guide are free, and a person confirms the pairing on every order. If anything arrives damaged, we handle the claim for you, and defects are covered by the manufacturer warranty.
