A head needs an outdoor unit. These are the manufacturer-approved outdoor units for the heads in this collection, the most-paired first. Each product page lists its own pairings.

A cassette sits flush in the ceiling with only the grille showing. Four-way cassettes throw air in four directions from the middle of the room; one-way cassettes blow along one side and suit narrow rooms. Nothing hangs on the walls, which is why cassettes go into open living spaces, offices and rooms with windows on every side.
The body sits above the ceiling, so it needs room between the joists or in a drop ceiling, plus a route for the line set and the condensate drain. Cooper & Hunter's 4-way cassettes need a ceiling panel that is sold separately; each cassette's page offers the panel sized for it.
Right now this page lists 13 products: 13 ceiling cassettes. Sizes run from 9,000 to 48,000 BTU, with SEER2 ratings from 18 to 23. Every unit with a listed voltage runs on 208–230 V.
Mounting, wiring and running the line set are within reach of a capable DIYer. The refrigerant connection, vacuum and charge should be done by a licensed HVAC technician in most states, and most warranties require it. We can point you to an installer in your area.
Use the system builder: enter the rooms and it sizes each one and shows only manufacturer-approved combinations. For vaulted ceilings, sunrooms or very old houses, call and we will size it by hand.
